Balwyn Horses

Balwyn Polo and Balwyn equestrian Services have been breeding horses since the early 1980's. Balwyn Horses principal sire is currently EDENHOPE HENRY - Australian Stockhorse Registration # 159580.

Balwyn Horses are presently located at Suffolk Street, Caversham, WA but in 2014 will be relocated to George Street, West Swan, WA.

Balwyn Horses have evolved and grown over the years since the mid 1970’s with the Lester family – particularly Dick and his 3 son’s - Adrian, Stuart and Russell – became interested (addicted) to Polocrosse. In the early 2000’s this interest, while continuing in Polocrosse, evolved further to a commitment into Polo.

Balwyn horses are very much a sporting and therefore activity based interest. We are not into showing horses or have them performing as show hacks.

Balwyn Horses are owned in the name of Balwyn Equestrian Services Pty Ltd an entity for “grouping purposes” with the Lester Group business for tax and GST purposes.

While many of the Balwyn horses are registered as Australian Stockhorses, the maintenance of a Australian Stock Horse Stud is an associated but not primary purpose of the Lester Family. The Lester Family have been long time members of the Australian Stockhorse Society Inc. joining in the early 1980’s.

Balwyn Horses principal sire is currently EDENHOPE HENRY –Australian Stockhorse Registration # – 159580.

Over the years all three Lester boys – Adrian, Stuart and Russell – have played polocrosse throughout their school days and through University. All 3 boys have represented Western Australia at their appropriate grade – Junior, Intermediate and Men’s Open.

Adrian’s eldest son James was a member of the WA Junior Polocrosse Team, which competed at Ballarat, Victoria in 2010.

Presently James Lester is in England making his way as a young polo professional.

The Balwyn Brand...
The Brand appears on the near shoulder of all Balwyn bred horses.
On the off-side shoulder is branded the foaling number above the calendar year in which that foal is born.
